What's the big deal about forged?

It really does not matter - until the wedge game. Then it matters a lot. All iron heads are either cast (molten metal poured into a mold) or forged (raw steel stamped by a die that is about as big as a house). Cast club heads are easier, less costly to make. All companies (even the Big High Dollar Club Companies)make cast cavity back irons. They are fine up to about the wedges. Then, if you are a decent wedge player, you want a forged blade back set. You want forged because with a forged head, the face has a much higher density which leads to superior soft feel and shot control.

Wood Brothers Golf

State of the art design - Superior Quality

Dan and I are thrilled that Wood Brothers Golf will allow us the privilege of selling their club heads.

Wood Brothers Golf is over a quarter century old and the company got into the club business very quietly making clubs for touring pros twenty-five years ago. Their clubs were hand-crafted.

Back in the nineteen eighties, average golfers didn't really care too much what brands a pro used. So even though Wood Brothers clubs were used by a number of top pros, plus their clubs won the P.G.A. twice, their business still grew only steadily. Not until their clubs were introduced in Japan did their business skyrocket!

The Japanese market loves the Wood Brothers clubs. To the point the company almost exclusively sold in Japan rather than the mass-produced dominated U.S market.

Wood Brothers club heads are state of the art design and superior hand crafted quality. Just this year, Wood Bros. has come back to the United States.

Dan and I both hope there is a market here for a small, super high quality, state of the art club head maker. We hope their superior quality is appreciated here again.

Instead of supporting professional golfers (they don't need our money anyhow) - We put our money into you

I have mentioned this before - there is one other place our money goes.

Doris Richter, (also called "Doris the Pencil") our CPA accountant, comes over three times a year and lectures us about "Lost Profit Potential" meaning if we had a bigger markup we would actually make more money. Probably true.

We probably lose a lot of "lost profit potential" but we keep our overhead to a minimum and Dan and I would rather cut prices as much as humanly possible and get more customers who want to keep coming back.

We aren't business geniuses - but that makes sense to us. Hopefully it makes sense to you too.

"Are you looking for a top of the line new wedge from one of these Big Dollar Companies? Get ready - here it comes -- POW! Right in the wallet!"

Tell me why these Big Dollar Club Companies get $120.00 to $170.00 for a single wedge. That makes a three wedge set a whopping $360.00 to $510.00!

What if - what if - you could buy a better wedge for a fraction of the price.

Don't you get peeved at the prices the Big High Dollar Club Companies get for their stuff.

There is no doubt, a really top set of wedges will improve your game and lower your score. And blade wedges give you the best response and feel. And of the blade wedges, those that are forged are the very best. That is why forged wedges are so darn costly. That is what the Big Overpriced Club Companies tell us.

Except for the one we finally discovered.

These are better. These are less. But the company that manufactures these heads doesn't sponsor any touring pros. They don't have a private jet either - I'm pretty sure the owner drives a Chevy Suburban. They just make top quality forged wedge heads. Maybe that is why their heads are so reasonable!

We searched long and hard to find this wedge head

We figured somewhere there had to be a top quality forged wedge head at a reasonable price. After over a year, my partner Dan Bennett had yet another package delivered to our office from a component manufacturer. He has gone through this so many times - nearly always ending in disappointment with the heads tossed in the trash.

He looked at these heads. They looked good - really good. He weighed them - they were dead on the money. He checked the loft and lie angles - perfect. Then he checked the bounce angles - right on. Finally, the balance - absolute precision. Dead on!

He then minutely inspected them with this brand new 16X to 32X variable depth stereo microscope he bought (that microscope set us back $355.00 but Dan said we needed it so he could really "get into" the heads we are sent). Very few people I know in this business go to the extremes Dan goes to in making sure a head is perfect! Who else uses a stereo microscope to inspect heads for crying out loud!

He said we just might have our forged wedge heads this time. He showed them to me. They are a really sharp looking head! Made by a small but quite old specialty golf club company - Wood Brothers Golf.

These wedge heads played like nobody's business!

Dan put together a few sets. He tried them. I tried them. Wonderful response with a great touch. Perfect feel!

A few of our field testers tried them; same exciting results. Soft sensitive feel, great balance, superb control! What more are you after in a wedge.

The quality in these Wood Brothers is as good - frankly, Dan says better, much better - than Titleist Vokey, Callaway, Cleveland, Taylormade or any wedge you want to hold these up against.

That's a big deal - a very big deal

Quality is always a big deal here. NEVER will we accept a sub-standard component. Rule Number One - if Dan and I wouldn't play it ourselves, why in the world would we sell it to you to play!

These heads truly are a work of art. They not only have every playability element right on the money, they are the best looking heads you will ever see on a wedge from any company! Any company.

They are not marked "A" for approach, or "S" for sand wedge, or "L" for loft wedge. Instead, they have the exact loft embossed on the sole and then on the back, they show the loft and bounce angle. For example the approach wedge is marked on the back - 52.08 indicating 52 degrees loft, 8 degrees bounce angle. That is a very professional way to designate the clubs.

These heads are forged from 8620 soft carbon steel with a Chrome Nickel finish that is superb. You will be tempted to put them in a frame and hang them on the wall - they are that stunning!

But play them and you will see they are truly golf instruments that will give you a surgeon's touch around the green!

Custom built specifically for you.

Each wedge will be built to order. To your specifications.

You have:

  1. the 52 degree "Gap" or "Approach" wedge with an 8 degree bounce angle - 52.08.
  2. the 56 degree Sand Wedge with a 12 degree bounce angle - 56.12.
  3. the 60 degree Lob Wedge with a 4 degree bounce angle - 60.04.

These wedges will be built with a Kinjura SORA steel shaft. Kinjura makes the very best shafts in the world. You rarely hear of them because they make such limited production. Their shafts are simply the best of all the shafts we have tested.

We use a deluxe super-soft velvet feel grip. This grip is ultra soft yet transmits ultimate feel to you.

These wedges are better than Titleist Vokey, better than Callaway, better than Taylormade, better than Cleveland
-
So we should sell them for more. Right?
You know that's not how we do things!

You know how we feel about what the Big High Dollar Club Companies do with their big fat "Promotional Budgets". They blow up the price of their clubs to somewhere up in the stratosphere to cover their "promotional" excesses! We don't do that. We don't have a "Promotional Budget," our money goes right back into cutting the cost to the absolute bone so you can have top quality clubs at a rock bottom price.

Dan and I want you to say "Yes," to these wedges. Believe me, we've gone round and round about the price to get it as low as humanly possible! This is truly "cost plus a fraction" pricing.

Here goes:
Any one Wood Bros. Forged Head wedge: 77.00
Your second Wood Bros. Forged Head wedge: 67.00
Your third Wood Bros. Forged Head wedge: 62.00

That means you can have a set of three of these incredible wedges for only 206.00 !

When your golf buddies (or golf ladies) ask you about your new wedges, hand them one. When they ask, "Where did you get them?" Just reply, "I had a small specialty golf company in Williamsburg, Virginia, custom build them for me." When they ask, "What did you give for them?" Tell them a little fib - say with a very straight face, "Just over $200.00.. each." They'll believe it. - because these clubs look like they ought to cost that much. Then, later on you can tell them what you really paid - if your conscience gets to you.

Now you will "stick your ball right on the flag" with these fantastic FORGED wedges at a crazy low price

OUR GUARANTEE

"If you don't like it, we want it back - even if you have used it."

When we first started this policy we were warned, “Nobody else does that. Some people out there are going to take advantage of you. Some dishonest types will just rip you off.”

Nope. That has not happened. And besides, we mean it –
If you are not 100% happy, send anything back along with the receipt in thirty days and get a full refund!

Most all companies will let you return clubs if you have not played with them. Does that seem dumb?! How do you know if you like them or not if you do not use them?!

Anything you buy from us is returnable – yes, even if you have used them.
